POSITION: Software Quality Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Technology
REPORTS TO: Lead Software Quality Engineer
STATUS: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

Software Quality Assurance (QA) engineers take full ownership of ensuring all releases pass rigorous testing and surpass industry standards.

  • Responsibilities
    • Review requirements specifications and technical designs to create a testing strategy
    • Create and validate test data for functional components of software applications
    • Create, maintain, and execute well-structured test plans and test cases
    • Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities
    • Identify, document, and track defects during software development
    • Perform functional and regression testing for each software release
    • Review processes and provide recommendations for improvement
    • Review and advise on industry standards for software quality assurance
  • Position Requirements
    • Experience in diagnosing, reporting, tracking and resolving quality issues
    • Experience with issue tracking and project management tools (Jira, Confluence)
    • Knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and processes
    • Ability to perform testing of a Java based web application
    • Experience analyzing and writing SQL scripts
    • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
    • Knowledge of the Software Test Life Cycle (STLC)
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
    • Critical, analytical and logical thinking skills

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • • Ability to work indoors at a desk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to ascend and descend a set of stairs
  • Ability to lift and carry 10 – 20 pounds as needed.
  • Listen, talk, interact, and effectively communicate with other employees, supervisors and outside contacts
  • Standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time
  • Use of phone and/or computer for extended periods of time
  • Bending, reaching and twisting in the performance of daily job functions
  • Seeing, reading, writing, utilizing a computer keyboard, mouse and other computer implements
  • Ability to work a set schedule consistent with job and/or business needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: BS/BA degree in computer science, engineering or related discipline

Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
